Hi,

I live in France and there is no real 6-12 Montessori school. So I have to put my child back in the traditional system ? Could AMI Trained teachers or even parents to whom it happened comment on this transition ? What should I expect ? What can I do as a mum to prepare my kid ? Advice ?

Thanks

Great question

The good news is that children easily adapt to new situations and to new environments. The important thing is to explain to your child that prior to the change, there is going to be a change. If the child is ready for a change, he/she will adapt more quickly.

The first month or so, the child will most certainly come home and tell you all the differences there are in the new school compared to the Montessori system. This is compltely normal and it is actually his way of adapting.

If the home environment remains the same, the child will have no problem integrating into a "normal system"

Thanks for your answer.

Do you think it would also help my child's future teacher to know that he was in a Montessori school ?

In my teaching experience, I found that some teachers have a negative experience with Montessori Children and therefore put them in a box.

If you know this teacher and his/her personal view on Montessori it could really help you. Instead of discussing Montessori, you can put the emphasis on what your child has learned and how your child learns best.

I hope it helps

Tania
